We interviewed Heiða in Skaftárhreppur, Iceland. She is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met. Heiða took over her family farm at the age of 23. She turned down a modeling contract in New York to dedicate her life to farming and even became a member of the local government so she can fight against plans to build a power plant & hydrodam on her land. She personifies the connection between humans and nature, the stunning river that cuts across the back of farm is like a member of the family, Heiða refers to the river as ‘her’. She has shown incredible stregth to protect her land and with the help of the Icelandic Environmental Association the plans to build the power plant have been indefinitely suspended. We are so grateful that Heiða spent time with us and welcomed the crew into her home.
